Olive oil is mostly monosaturated fat, which is better for you and your family than the more saturated fats, such as butter and margarine. The European Journal of Clinical Nutrition says less that less than an ounce of olive oil each day can lower LDL lipid levels and prevent LDL cholestrol from oxidizing.

- pour about 2 tablespoons of light or mild tasting olive oil into a small bowl or saucer
